I got a call from our agency telling me that we had a little girl in St. Petersburg, Russia. The agency representative then forwarded Emma's referral photo...and time stood still!
We cannot believe it has been TWO WHOLE YEARS!
Yes, we've lived through the births of two of our children, and been there as they took their first breaths...and seen their faces within mere seconds of delivery. Seeing a child's face for the first time - one who has already experienced this world for some time...who will ultimately become a part of you - takes on a whole different meaning though!
We feel so very blessed that Emma is OUR FAMILY ~ OUR OWN!
Here are some photos I snapped of Emma holding her referral photo...she is still amazed that the "baby" in the photo is really her.
I'VE NEVER BEFORE SHARED THIS NEXT PHOTO ON THE BLOG....
This is the ONLY photo we have of Emma before the "referral" photos. All we have is a black and white copy of a photo that must have been her "registry" photo. I begged for an email attachment of this photo, but those of us who know about Russian adoptions, know what I'm about to say.......
They told me that I couldn't possibly get the original photo. No other explanation.
So this is the only photo we have of Emma as a baby...
