Just Martha and Me

20090417-DSC_0256

So I decided that I want to learn to sew...the basics!!! I am not delusional enough to think that I'll become a "seamstress", but I would at least like to know how to hem a pair of pants for my 5'2" self! So thanks, MiMi for this beauty...

I'd like to thank my mom, sister, MIL, and friends for making this a great day, but I'd especially like to thank my husband. I have been dreading this birthday so much, but not for the reasons you all remember. You see, my 2008 birthday was the last day that I saw my father (he passed 6 days later). That's something that will stay with me forever. JC was so sweet yesterday. He arranged for my entire Body Pump class to sing to me (quite embarrassing), met me for lunch at Qdoba and then surprised me with a babysitter and a dinner just for us at PF Changs. I love you, J - not bad for a day that I had been dreading!

Holy moly! What a fabulous "dreaded" birthday you had! I love, love, love all of your gifts too! I can't wait to see what you do with that new sewing machine!

Happy Belated Birthday!!! I was thinking all day yesterday, "I remember somebody mentioning their birthday was April 15, now who is it?" It was you! Looks and sounds like you had a great birthday!! I would take up sewing but I can't measure worth a flip. I'm good with 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and wholes but the others throw me off!!

Happy Birthday. I LOVE the wine glass and jewelery. Looks like you had a pretty good b-day.

By the way, I do sew and surprisingly, it is addicting especially when you have a daughter to make things for.

Awesome wine glass! I hope you had a fabulous birthday and that you got my birthday wishes from your other blog. I suggest you request sewing lessons/tips from my capable sister-in-law. She's quite the whiz on a sewing machine!

Way too go hubby! How sweet was that! I am sorry about your Dad. I can't imagine how that feels. I am glad that your husband turned it into a fabulous day. Let me know how you like the machine. I am going to start sewing for my 4 girls and one baby on the way ( most likely another girl:)

Happy belated birthday! Congrats on your new sewing machine. Be sure to get it out and use it soon. I have had mine for many years and still haven't used it. I did set it up last week, so that is a start!
