Back to CIS

Tuesday our agency called to tell us that all of the paperwork had arrived in St. Petersburg. That means that we were able to redo everything and have it in Russia by the end of June. She then told me that they are now waiting on Moscow's Ministry of Education to send a release letter that states our little one is off of the National Registry of Orphans. This could take up to another two weeks. The court appointment cannot be made until our Russian agency has this letter. It looks like traveling in August may be a little ambitious unfortunately.
Yesterday, JC and I also drove to Charlotte to North Carolina's CIS office to have our fingerprints redone. Our first set expires August 1, 2009. Now we will wait on our amended I-171H form to arrive with the new fingerprint expiration date. This is the form that we have to have in order for Emma to become a US Citizen so it is rather important.

I hope that you all have a very Happy and Safe Fourth of July! After visiting another country recently, this quote really hits home to me:

"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism."

Love the quote!

I stand in amazement of how educated you become when going through the adoption process. Every step you take though, is one step closer!!! I know you can't wait!! Hope you have a red, white and blue dress waiting for next July 4th. Next year will be so different!!!

Hi! I am finally getting around to commenting on your blog.....you left me a comment on mine right before I went on a mission trip to Nicaragua.....I'm home a week now and still not completely caught up, LOL! I am so excited for you to get a court date and I will be following along and praying for you guys.....
We have (guesstimation) about 8-10 more weeks before we could possibly be heading to Russia on a blind referral....Moscow City region. I am so anxious I can hardly stand it anymore.
Love your blog!! Great to "meet" you in blogland!
Hugs and God bless,

I am SOOOO behind on checking your blog. I just added you to the sidebar of my blog so I can have easier access to getting to you (don't have to remind myself to hit the favorites tab or the feed reader.) Anyway, I am glad that everything got to Russia. The letter from the MOE of Moscow was the thing that took so long for us too. But I think they can call to check on it after a certain number of weeks, seems like it was like four weeks or something like that. So maybe yours will be in before that time is up???? I think ours came in just at the very outward edge of what was technically "allowed".

It's interesting that you put this quote on your site. We were in St. Pete on their "independence day" last year and the parade was EXACTLY what you described. Tanks and soldiers filing past THRONGS of people. It was a cool thing to watch because we don't have things like that here much, but definitely nothing to compare to our downhome bike parades! :)
