Gingerbread Men

I was in W*l-Mart the other day and came across a really cute Gingerbread House kit.
Let me back up and say that I am always prepared. I always buy the Costco Gingerbread House kit way in advance...like maybe October because the boys traditionally make their house the first Sunday in December. Well, not this year! I didn't even think about this annual tradition until I was in W*l-Mart. This is a prime example of the way things have gone since bringing Emma home from Russia. Sooooo...I put a box in my cart and kept shopping UNTIL I came to another part of the store where they had kits of just GINGERBREAD MEN.

Now, I know this is breaking tradition, but this Mom has got to maintain a little sanity this year!!! I quickly put the house kit back and snatched up the one above. Eight men and the icing and candies came inside. I was planning on using this as an activity for the weekend, but Jackson found the box last night. He begged and pleaded to go ahead and make his men so I let the boys open the kit last night.

Even Emma got to take part in the festivities...the boys let her lick the hand mixer beaters. She thought the icing was the best thing she had ever tasted.

We saw plenty of this when they were taken away...

What a blast! Cute pictures! We also make gingerbread houses, however, we go to our local Children's Museum to do it. We always have a great time and I love leaving the mess there! We are making our house this Sunday afternoon. I can't wait!

It looks like all the kids enjoyed their GB treats!! I always buy the houses, but this year I didn't......we have a friend who is an artist and she makes her own GB kits. She is making four of them and a few of us our getting together with our kids Sat night so they can build them.....I can't wait to go:)

Sounds like you have something exciting planned this weekend....Have FUN!!

Emma is beautiful! I adore her hair. And I love the cookie idea-so much easier than the house kits. Good for you-going with easy!

Ohhhh I am so glad you posted about gingerbread people. I have never in my life done the houses and was not looking for to it. Just seems like too much stressful work building the thing. I think when the time comes, we'll do the gingerbread people here too.

Your boys are so funny. Looks like a good time was had by all - at least until the beaters were taken away!
