The Nutcracker Ballet

On Saturday afternoon, Jackson and I spent some very valuable time together. Jack and I went to see The Nutcracker presented by the North Carolina School of the Arts, America's first public arts conservatory. It was heartwarming to see his little face light up when I told him it would be just him going with me this year.
We planned a day of it. I let Jackson choose where we ate lunch; he chose McDonalds. We looked a little silly eating there all dressed up, but really, it was a McCafe
so it was ok.

One of my favorite memories of Christmas is of dressing up and going to this very production of The Nutcracker, which has been performing for 40+ years. This was long, long before I ever dreamed of traveling to Russia to bring home a little girl, but now this ballet has a special meaning for me.

The performance was amazing. The dancers and all of the crew and live orchestra truly put on a magical show. This is a tradition that I hope we can keep for many years, and I cannot wait until Emma is old enough to go for the first time.

Cute pictures! It looks like you had a blast! I plan to start this tradition with Kamree, as well. However, I didn't think she would be ready this year so I didn't get tickets. To my surprise, she would have been ready :)

How fun that you and Jackson had a great day, just the two of you! MY Jackson has had a great weekend too: his older brother spent the weekend deer hunting with his grandfather. Jackson has been in heaven being the only child!

Take a peek at my blog to see my Jackson. He's about the same age as yours!
