Court Date

One year ago today, a judge in St. Petersburg, Russia pronounced that JC and I would be suitable parents for Emma!!!
It is amazing to think that it has already been a year since we were in Russia. All week I have been saying, "last year at this time...fill in the blank"! As we sat on the train heading to Moscow later that day, we were filled with emotions ranging from exhilaration, anxiety, exhaustion, joy, and relief!
The day before court, we were able to visit Emma at her baby home. It was probably the worst visit that we had with her in terms of her interacting with us. I snapped this shot of her as she rocked back and forth on this little bear. She was in a lot of distress, and it broke our hearts knowing that it was because she was forced to stay in this room with us.

One year later, Emma has adapted so well and fits into our family as if she's always been with us. I took these photos on Sunday before we went out to celebrate my sister's birthday. Emma was a little diva as usual! :)

Congrats on your one year coming up! It drags by before they are home and flies by after. Crazy!

I can't believe a year has already passed ~ time flies when you’re busy with a sweet toddler. The second photo cracks me up! I bet your days are filled with lots of laughter.

After 1 1/2 hrs w/Miss E last night before the singing began, I too am amazed at her progress. From her non-stop chatter and my understanding of almost all of it to her descriptions of her new dresses - "big polka dots and small polka dots, buttons on my pockets, a ZIPPER" - she is a delight. I knew I was toast when the singing began and she joined in w/songs she had never heard a year ago. Rock, rock, Baa baa, Black sheep, Take me out to the Ballgame, the Jesus songs, You are my Sunshine, and the black sheep again and again and NO BINGO !! Good night, Sweet Girl...

Time does go by so quickly! Sometimes I find it hard to look at pictures of my babies in the baby home. I know they were scared and confused. It is amazing how resilient these sweeties are!! Congrats on one year with your precious Emma!!!
