Kitchen Renovation Part Two: The Demolition

As previously stated, we started this project as a kitchen countertop replacement only. We chose to have granite replace our existing tile counters. Since we are not going to be in this house forever and since we have antique white cabinets, we chose one of the more economical granites: Uba Tuba. The guys came to install the granite, and unfortunately our backsplash tile was still an inch higher than the counters.

So I started tearing out the tile backsplash! My mom and I decided we would attempt to do a new tile backsplash ourselves!!!

But...I made a huge MESS!!! If the tile was not over a stud, it ripped the sheetrock right off the walls. What a mess!!!

As much as I love a good home improvement project, I am feeling the squeeze of the holidays quickly approaching.

Check out that huge hole in the wall!!!

So I have decided to bring in the reinforcements. One of our good friends is a builder and has graciously decided to help us F.I.X. this before my Christmas decorating begins! Just one more thing to be thankful for this week. Stay tuned for more kitchen improvements!

I just cringed when you said you were going to rip it out yourselves...and then had to giggle about the hole...that is something I would have done. SO GLAD you are getting some help. You will be so glad you did! Your counters are really pretty.
