Master Bedroom

This summer my brain has been going non-stop about wanting to change our master bedroom decor. The only problem is I'm not too sure which way I want to go.

It's not horrible right now by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a little darker than maybe I'd like. The positive to the darkness is that we are in there to sleep, and I do like complete darkness when trying to fall asleep.

Here are some photos that I snapped last week of our room...I guess you could call these the "Befores", but to be honest, I have not done one thing to transform this room yet.

Mismatched furniture ~ a blog post for another day...

The paint color is Agave from Behr. The curtains are a chocolate brown velvet. The nightstands and my dresser with mirror are all from the same set. The other pieces are all different.

I think one thing that I greatly dislike is all the dark furniture.

Ok...I am open to any ideas. My goal is to not spend a fortune. I have already purchased a white duvet cover with shams, and I am going to paint the dresser against the far wall that is already lighter than the other pieces. I am also going to switch out the draperies.

HELP!!!!

Two Words: The mural. I think David had it last.

It looks great the way it is! But some suggestions - lighten the colors of the walls, drapes. Add some bright accessories like fushia or yellow flowers/ candles/ pillows/ throws/ artwork? Lighter color lamp shades and bigger lamps? Add some lighter color or bright color runners on your furniture tops to "lighten" them and protect them. Love your children's photos on the wall but maybe keep it all on one wall or on the dressers? More photos of you and your husband or peaceful paintings since it's the Master bedroom? Can't wait to see what you do - you have great style and are very resourceful and creative!

Or keep some of the blue walls and lighten 2 or 3 of the other walls?

Your bedroom is fabulous! I especially love your wood floors. I can't wait to see what you come up with. I think it's pretty great right now!

It looks great! A few suggestions: Take down the two small pics above the chair. Make a *picture wall* above the long dresser . Use a bedskirt and IF POSSIBLE put the television in an enclosed cabinet!!!

Sheesh - don't think anon was saying to take away the photos - just grouping them in one area or more streamlined. Barb

Wow - I'm surprised my suggestion of putting the children's photos in one area and adding more photos of you and your husband or other art seemed to have been taken the wrong way! Personally view Master bedroom as a peaceful sanctuary for relaxing and also a romantic haven so those were just some suggestions.

I think this paint color is Agave by Behr. We no longer live in this house so I don't have the paint can.
