Last weekend we went south with two other friends for the 16th Annual Bi-Lo Myrtle Beach Half Marathon. Last November we all four registered for this race just before the Las Vegas marathon and half that JC and I ran in in December. It was completely obvious just after the Las Vegas half that I would not be running in the Myrtle Beach race due to a left hip injury that I got while running in LV.
The other three ran, however, and they totally rocked it.
First to finish is our friend T! He ran 13.1 miles in one hour and 23 minutes! He did amazingly well!
Next in was JC. He ran it in one hour and 32 minutes. Not bad for only having run seven times in 2013!!!
And then came Maria. She rocked it in one hour and 54 minutes...only missing her personal record by 45 seconds.
It was probably a good thing I did not run because these guys would have been standing around a really long time waiting on me! :)
And here they are sporting their medals and goofing off!
After a quick shower and pack up, we all headed north to Oak Island for the night.
It was nice and sunny when we got there, so Maria and I took a walk on the beach.
Bad weather was on the way, however, and by the time we turned back, the sky was darkening.
That night we went over to Fishy Fishy for live music and dinner...if only it had been about 40 degrees warmer, it would have been heaven!
We had such a great weekend. Cannot wait to do it again!
