Brendan has been playing Little League baseball since he was seven years old, and he has been fortunate enough to make the All Star team every year. This year his All Star team was predicted to go down early in our district tournament.
This group of kids came ready to work hard every day! They practiced seven days a week for six weeks straight and played six games in the district tournament before winning the district title.
At the state tournament last week, this team won the first game by a landslide, but then got sent to the loser's bracket by a good friend's team in the second game.
Here is Brendan catching while his friend is up to bat!
And here is Jackson and the little brother...always the best of friends even if they are cheering for different teams...
We made it to within 30 miles of the fields last Wednesday night before all of the games were canceled due to weather...it is a two hour drive one way to the host's fields.
On Thursday night, the boys once again showed up ready to play and beat the District 1 Champs:
On Friday night we played Myers Park out of Charlotte. They were a great team. We got down 11-2 in the first inning, but the boys kept fighting. In the top of the 4th inning we were down 15-9 with 2 outs. B comes up to bat and hits his first grand slam to make it 15-13.
The game got as close as 16-15 in the 5th inning, but we just couldn't make up any more ground. We ended up losing 20-15. Myers Park went on to become the NC 11 Year Old Little League State Champs!
Everyone is so proud of these boys! THIRD in the State is not too bad!
