New Bern

The birthplace of Pepsi Cola!

When we left Emerald Isle, we drove to New Bern for the night.  The downtown area borders the Neuse River and is absolutely beautiful.  We were lucky enough to stay waterside, and this was the view from our balcony:

After spending the afternoon at the pool, we changed and walked to dinner.

We had dinner at The Chelsea.  A looong time ago, two of our best friends lived in New Bern (this is when JC and Todd were both in the Navy).  Every time we visited, we always ate at The Chelsea.  This time we were able to share it with our littles, and it was as wonderful as we remembered!

One of the best things about New Bern, besides the history and the water, is the bear art!  The kids really enjoyed seeing each of the unique bears around the city.

It was such a fun night!

The next day we got up and drove the boys to Camp Don Lee for their week at camp.  We were so sad to leave them, but both were excited for their week to start.

We were able to see the paver in honor of the boys for the first time this year!  It was a neat experience for them to see their names in print at camp as well!

I have never been to New Bern. Thanks for sharing your pictures. Looks like your family had a great vacation.
