In Photographs

For yesterday's post on the Master Bedroom, I had snapped photos from different angles of our room. It's amazing how MUCH MORE you get from looking at a photo than from just walking in the room.

I mean, we have lived with this same room decor for about 4-5 years now. I am so "used to it" that it's hard for me to really evaluate it with an unbiased opinion.

FIVE things instantly came to mind after seeing my own post on the net though.

1. As stated above, I think I can more objectively make decisions about the direction I want our room to go after looking at it in photographs.

2. We have WAY TOO MANY photographs of our children on the walls...SEVEN to be exact. Here's the thing: I really am drawn to professionally decorated bedrooms that have NO photographs on the walls so where the heck do you put these photographs if not in a more personal space??? (Thank you "Anonymous" for pointing this out.)

3. I have GOT to replace that builder-grade ceiling fan. Now, to be completely honest with you, I would not have a fan in our room! However, this room has two exterior walls so it is a little harder to keep it cool in the heat of the summer like we are experiencing now. I think JC would nix the idea of NO fan.

4. I am thinking we need some fabulous crown moulding!

5. Maybe a white bedskirt to match the new duvet I bought would be a good idea to lighten the room closer to the floor as well as hiding the stuff that my eye is "used to seeing"!

OK...keep those ideas coming my way!

Ok, I love your bedroom. It's done in very similar colors to mine. If you want to lighten it up, try some silk du ONI drapes in a beige or gold color that reflect light. Also, some toss pillows in the same color would be nice. You have great taste, anything u do will be fabulous!

I really think the professionals rooms are beautiful but show no reflection of who we are... I think that photos of family are the perfect decoration for our homes. I even have a 16x20
of our daughter over the fireplace and it is perfect. I love art and I have some in my home but it is a proven fact that children benefit emotionally from seeing their own pictures in the home. Just my 2 cents...your room is beautiful and I know any changes you make will just add to that. Love your blog and visit often. I also use your links at the bottom and am really developing a new appreciation for painted furniture and reburbished decorative items.
