Friday Find ~ Another Chair Redo

Back when we thought we were building a new house, I spent a lot of time thinking about some of the new ways I would like to decorate.

I spent a lot of time looking at magazines, blogs, posts on Pinterest, and the Houzz website.

One of the things that always caught my attention was bamboo!  Of course bamboo accents have come in and out of style, but it appears that they are in for now and especially paired with vibrant color!

I stumbled upon this photo in Coastal Living magazine this summer.

Check out that price tag.  JC would have a slight heart attack if I ever suggested paying that much money for a chair that is "as comfortable as it looks"!

On one of my thrifting searches this summer, I came across a pair of bamboo arm chairs at a local consignment store.

The price was right at $75 for the pair (Actually I admit that I didn't really want to pay that much after shopping at Goodwill and the Habitat ReStore, but admittedly, I have never seen anything like these at those stores either.)!

Once again, I decided to spray paint.  One reason is because the chairs were stained, and I knew the spray paint would cover well without any stain leaking through.

I found the following chair at the Simplified Bee, and I decided to use this as my inspiration.

I knew I wanted to use different hues of blue in the Great Room.  The photo above is actually on a covered porch, and the fabric is an outdoor fabric by Trina Turk.  It is very expensive, but I scored 2 yards on ebay this summer so it wasn't too bad.

And here is the after in our Great Room (the $3 side table was also a Goodwill find ~ it looked like it had been used in an outdoor shed when I bought it.  You can read more about it HERE!)...

I ordered these two lumbar pillows from C. Wonder on clearance, and I really like them a lot.  I am not sure if I am going to keep them in these particular chairs because the blues are sort of fighting with each other...I'm working on not being too matchy matchy!  It's hard for me!  ;)

And here is the pair together.  Please disregard all of the iPhone photos.  Not the best quality, but I didn't have the big camera handy!

I love my new to me bamboo chairs!  The are perfect for the space just in front of our bank of windows in the Great Room!

Love the chairs, the fabric chosen and especialy the top of the chair which is really unique, regal in a sense.

I know what you mean about not wanting to spend $75 after the £10-15 bargains in other stores but sometimes you just have to go for it.

I also struggle with the non matching...my heart says it doesnt matter my head says oh yes it does!

Your milk glass lamps from aeons ago started an ebay obsession of mine..I look every now and again for unique items..I have a beaitiful 60 cm oil lamp now that I bought with some money my grandmother left me, it was so her style and makes me happy to think she is still with me. I see this as family heirloom to be passed down. I also have blue milk glass goblets which my husband suprised me with at Christmas and a lamp stand part pine which I will make a stained glass shade for..stained glass and glass painting my real passion though sadly it doesnt pay what my legal day job does!

My current obsession is wrought iron. My plan was to buy some old heavy peices and use these as a frame for some of my stained glass work. I have recently won on ebay a large 1.2 metre x 80 cm fabulous hand made frame and mirror with candle sconces attached, very heavy and at bargain price of £10, was going to upcyle but to be honest they are perfect as they are and will go over fire place in time (when wall possibly reinforced to hold it!).

I have some old wooden boxes I am planning to mosaic and some stone benches for garden in the summer..some of my glass is on Pinterest under board name PrimroseAna Glass by me! As a quid pro quo you are very welcome to drop on by and let me know what you think.

Love your Friday Find and to catch up on how your littlies are all doing...
