World War II Memorial

"United in this determination and with unshakable faith in the cause for which we fight, we will, with God's help, go forward to our greatest victory."
- General Dwight D. Eisenhower (1944)

In a small, mountain town, there is a beautiful memorial honoring the citizens of Burke County, North Carolina who served in World War II.  This memorial was dedicated on Veteran's Day 2005.  I am proud to say that our family was there at the dedication service.  When Brendan was playing in the NC State Little League tournament, we revisited this park, and I was able to photograph the memorial.

Alex Hallmark, my husband's uncle, was commissioned to design the memorial park and to create the amazing bronze sculptures which "portray the nation that went to war and the effects it had on the Citizenry".  These sculptures are truly amazing!

What a lovely and kind post. But I am most impressed with Corey's photography. I should hire her as my photographer.

Thanks, again,

Alex Hallmark
