The Nutcracker Ballet

In keeping with tradition, Emma and I attended the Nutcracker Ballet with 3 other moms and daughters on Saturday, December 21st.     The North Carolina School of the Arts always has the most spectacular performances, and this year they did not disappoint.

We started the festivities with a lovely lunch.

The girls were so beautiful all dressed up!

Always the photographer, I failed to get a photo of me and Emma!

The food, company and conversation were so good that we got a late start at heading downtown to the Stevens Center.  Here is a photo of Kristen and I once we finally got to our seats…just a little frazzled!

We did make it in time for the girls to pick out their ornament before the ballet started however.  This year, Emma chose Clara holding the Nutcracker doll.

Amazingly, Emma sat through the entire first part without saying a word!  At Intermission, the girls were a little fidgety so the snacks came out.  This saved us from having to leave the auditorium to brave the masses.

Everyone had such a wonderful time!  I love this tradition, and it is extra special to me because of Emma's Russian heritage!
