Friday Finds

I Love Milk Glass!

I don't know when this love affair began, but I think it is beautiful.
This week, I want to share two of the milk glass lamps that I have found at our Goodwill. These are not fine antiques by any stretch of the imagination, but this first one I found at the Goodwill outlet for $1. I like the shape a lot.
This is how it looked when I brought it home.

I cleaned the lamp up just a little and painted the wooden part a color that matches the rest of the great room decor. I found an inexpensive lampshade, and now I have this beautiful lamp for under $20.

Last week when I was in our local Goodwill, I also found this cute lamp for $3. I have not cleaned it up yet, and I don't know what I am going to do with it just yet, but I also loved the lines of this little lamp.

Love your lamps! Especially the first one, which reminds me for all the world of a sea urchin. Love it!

Ok...first of all I just had a jaw dropping moment on the first lamp. It is SO pretty! Amazing the transformation! You have a great eye. I can't wait to see what you do with the second one. I am going to have to keep my eye out for those at our Goodwill store now. I think you have started something!

Also, thank you for the encouragement on my remodel. You don't know how much I still want white cabinets but the comment you left really helped me to know that I made the right decision. They aren't my dream cabinets, but they will be just perfect for our time in life right now.

Back to the lamps, when I was little, I used to call the milk glass lamps poodle lamps because the little balls of glass look like poodle haircuts...isn't that funny how children think of things like that? I have a new appreciation for them now and what a steal you got them for!

My dad has 2 of those ones in the last picture! The "shades" are also milk glass . . . a hurricane glass shape (if that's what it's called . . .)

Love what you did to the first one - looks awesome!

I read somewhere about a lady turning a lap like that into an amazing lamp using silver leaf. I know its already silver, but if you wanted to go over the glass. It would also be pretty cool to paint the silver part with a black matte paint to take the shine off.
